Walsall had their full squad available for the first time this season for the visit of Rugeley. They also wore their new match shirts for the first time and looked magnificent. Thank you to those who sponsored them and those who made this happen.
Rugeley arrived with a depleted squad and with great sportsmanship, Walsall players put their hands up to play for the opposition. Well done to those who did.
The game was split into thirds and in each 3 Walsall players donned the green of Rugeley. Rugeley took the initiative and scored two quick tries (we had a part in that, as they were Walsall players). Walsall came back into the game, trying hard with their passing game, which paid off as tries were scored to level the match. The game continued with one side scoring then the other. Some of the tries were the first ever scored by Walsall players and you could see their pride in their achievements. Rugeley scored tries through their strong runners and scored the final try to draw the game. A great game, you did yourselves, the club and the shirts proud.
