Another good day for the Walsall Under 8s as they hosted Old Halesownians at Delves Road. The Polar Bears (Alex, Will, Thane, Govind, Freddie, Alfie, Jack, Finlay) faced Old Hales' B team first starting off fantastically with brilliant defence helping them to a 4-2 lead at half time and a 7-4 lead shortly after the break. However complacency set in and wingers drifted in with some greediness on the ball happening too and Old Hales battled back to 7 all and had possession of the ball but an unfortunate knock on and a great run and try in the corner by Jack gave the Polars an 8-7 win. The Grizzley Bears (Reuben, Ewan, Dom, Luke, Kai, Elliot, Henry, Isaac and debutants Courtney and Yusuf) faced the Old Hales A team first and battled to a low scoring 3-3 draw before facing the A team in their second game and showing the Polars how to do it by winning 8-0! The Polars second game against the A team saw them turn on the style with direct running from Alex and Alfie as well as good teamwork defensively giving them a 12-7 that the coaches and Captain Will were proud of. We finished with another closely and strongly contested Bears v Bears game and we now look forward to our trip to Leicester Tigers. Thank you to everyone who helped me yet again. #Grrr
