

Walsall produced some of their best rugby as they overwhelmed a battling Belgrave team. This win sees them go past seven hundred points for the season with two more league games to be played. It only took three minutes for the hosts to display their attacking intent.
Hooker Rhys Gaddu made a good carry, the ball was recycled quickly, two passes later saw full back Toby Smith find winger Adam Tamillio in support to finish off with the try. Five minutes later, it was Number 8 Hal Gozukucuk that linked up with scrum half Connor Pitt, Smith was in support with his pass finding winger Joe Cattell in support for the touchdown. The next try was, what turned out to be, the visitors only score. Flanker Niall O.Connor showed great skill in reclaiming the restart kick and then finding full back Connor Jackson in support and then on to Luke Gutteridge to run in the try and convert. Captain Adam Nunney scored the next Walsall try as he burst through the visitor’s defence after scrum half Connor Pitt delivered a quick pass. Winger Joe Cattell scored the next try. Lock forward Mike Lockett and No 8 Hal Gozukucuk had made good ground before the ball was moved wide for Cattel to score. Final ten minutes of the first half saw the hosts continue to look to run and pass the ball. Cattell scored his second try and scrum half Connor Pitt was quick to break through from forty yards after another series of drives. Pitt helped create the next score as he found flanker Max Hughes in support to make the fifteen yards try scoring run. Final score of the half was made by prop forward Callum Martin. Lockett took the lineout ball, Martin secured the touchdown after the strong drive by the forwards.
Gozukucuk helped create the first score of the second half. The No 8 made a good carry before passing to the ever-present Max Hughes to cross for the try. The hosts continued to press for more scores despite being reduced to fourteen after outside half Ben Pitt was shown a yellow card . A strong scrum and a couple of quick passes saw centre Quade Boal make another fine break for the try. Two more tries in the final three minutes. Lock forward Elliot Clarke supported well for the first, then Max Hughes made a fine twenty-five yards break for the final try.
