On Sunday the Colts played away at Malvern, we lost 38-17…but that doesn’t even tell half the story!
Malvern are undefeated, having beaten Ledbury who beat us by 50 points, and we had various players missing…starting the game with only 2 subs and no front row cover.
We scored first with an incredible team try, clearly surprising Malvern with our aggressive defence and continuity in attack. Some stand out tackling from players such as Eddie, George, and Logan, really led the way. It was also great to welcome Henry back, his dynamic style of play is brilliant to watch.
Half time came, with us just behind, 12 points to 7…
However our loose head prop had to go off, Hayden was having a great game! This meant uncontested scrums, and Malvern choosing to enforce the rule where we went down to 14 men…in the words of Malvern’s Director of Rugby, ‘you are giving us a scare!’.
Walsall did not give up, still scoring 2 more tries against the 15 men of Malvern!
The fact that Malvern felt they needed to play against 14 men is the biggest compliment the boys can get, they were amazing!
For this reason the whole team are nominated as players of the match!
